Blue Collar Addict
Concert Review - February 9, 2006
Slingapours, Orlando, FL

One of my favorite things to do in the world aside of crank LOUD rock music to Eleven in my car, is to experience it live.  You will usually find me front row center on the stage edge banging my head.  And what a privilege to not only come out and support my indie rock band peeps, but review their concert and let you indie rock lovin' freaks know how frickin' awesome they are!

This past weekend I had the honor of hanging out with the boys of Blue Collar Addict and their downtown Orlando show at a local well-known favorite club, Slingapours.  After hearing these awesome rockers' recordings previously, I knew that the live show was going to be nothing less than spectacular, and sure enough,  I was in ROCK HEAVEN!

Blue Collar Addict is a solid band that knows who they are musically and it shows in their live performance that oozes professionalism in every way.  The recordings are awesome, but the live experience is something you MUST have the luxury of experiencing from one of Orlando's HOTTEST independent bands.  You would have thought they were lip syncing because the performance was flawless and pumped energy above and beyond the expected.
Front man and lead vocalist Danny Shaner is a showman with an incredible pair of lungs.  While most typical rock bands these days are following the "scream till you bleed" trend, it's refreshing to hear a vocalist who can actually sing, and for a rocker, does it as well as any trained vocalist, never losing stamina or sounding like those Mtv Popsters who can't sing live worth a dime.  Labels will sign anything in a tight pair of jeans that are barely out of their underoos.  But they need to take a listen to this band that actually has real balls.

Guitarist Josh, Drummer Vig,  and bassist Mark (aka Sweet Pea) are absolute pro players.  You would think you're listening to Pearl Jam, Metalica, and Creed all rolled into one:   their chops are killer!  It's great to hear a band that sounds just as good live as they do in the studio.

BCA is currently recording their next album with the man who made Creed what they are today and the upcoming CD release is one that will gain them rave reviews judging from the first few tracks they've finished.  They'll be playing several major music fests this year and if you're lucky, you'll catch them at one of their more intimate shows before they blow up big.

Be sure to listen to their current single on the Indie Rock Show titled "Down".  For more info on Blue Collar Addict, visit their website:
