Rock Show Review With a name as intriguing as their music, Moreover’s New Trick makes their debut a lasting impression with their equally intriguing CD title “Compassion Has Gone to the Dogs”. Considering themselves from “Illiana” (that’s Illinois & Indiana), Moreover’s New Trick has made their rounds on the tour circuit, radio and video venues as well. One of the most intriguing things about the band is its lead singer, Dani Deisher, who was just 13 when the band began about two years ago. Now just turning 15, she’s already on the road of rock-n-roll and has written some serious tunage. She’s one ambitious teenager judging from the performance and promotional schedule Moreover’s New Trick keeps. Dani was mentored and encouraged to write & sing by lead guitarist Ken Tucker who is better known for being Larry Norman’s lead guitarist. Joining the “tricksters” are bassist Travis Fischer and drummer Troy Teaney. The CD was produced by Tim Bushong of The Channel Surfers who made it really come to life. Before you start to think “this is just another teenybopper Brittney wanna be”, you should take it from me that jt’s one of the coolest teen fronted bands around. It’s clear from the first strum of the guitar that this CD is gonna rock. The overall vibe of the CD has a modern punk rock feel similar to The Donnas but with a lot more musical and lyrical integrity and creativity – trust me, I’ve listened to The Donna’s entire CD and every single song was in the same key and had the same guitar riff all the way through – what was the biggy?. But they’ve got attitude and this is one teenage girl with plenty of it. With a dash of the Foo Fighters harder edge thrown in for good measure, this CD is a lot different than the typical Christian rock band. Some of the hottest tunes on the album are the first cut “Nothing” & “No Better Place” written by Ken Tucker who wrote a bulk of the tunes, and “Cement” written by lead singer Dani. The guitar work on this CD along with the arrangements is phenomenal. Other hot tunes to catch are “Goodbye Cruel World” - an interesting message with a twist on the phrase…it speaks about how the world has let her down so now it’s “goodbye cruel world, hello good life”. Some great lyrics in all of it! To find out more about the riddle behind the band’s name, check them out online at The Spirit Radio site or newsletter site: www.moreoversnewtrick.8m.com At just 15, it’s clear that Dani and Moreover’s New Trick are well on their way to future success if they keep it up! It will be interesting to see where this talented 15 year old is a few years from now. If it’s this good at 15, 18 will be blowing us away.
