Rock Show Review With the look and sound that could easily be a “Hot Topic” poster band, RAE rocks the world with their newly released self-titled CD “RAE” on the Relentless Records indie label through Grassroots Music Distribution. With the new rock and punk blend that is fast becoming the favorite sound of today’s youth, this female fronted alternative hard rock trio from the North Houston, Texas area is making some noise with their authentic sound that was their own before it became wildly popular by groups like The All American Rejects, The Donna’s and Good Charlotte. Already staking their claim in the indie rock world, Kelly, Nick and Jess collectively known as RAE have performed with National Acts such as Kutless, The Benjamin Gate, Pushmonkey, Jars of Clay, PAX217, Harlow, Podunk, Earthsuit, Sidewalk Slam, Buck Enterprises, Calibretto 13, 38th Parallel, PartTime, Ill Harmonics, Spoken, and Animal Couch…just to name a “few”. RAE was also one of only two rock bands chosen nationally to perform at the GMA Spotlight Showcase in Nashville, TN in February 2002.
With catchy, next-gen chart topping anthems like “Endlessly”, “Special One”, “I Am”, “Now” and “Scream”, RAE capitalizes on the sound that is wildly popular now with next-geners and the Mtv2 and TRL crowd. With slight musical influences of Blink-182, Sum 41, Good Charlotte, The All American Rejects combined with the attitude of The Donna’s, but with a little more vocal maturity, bite and razor’s edge, RAE’s music rocks at full volume. Delivering a message crafted in the lingo that communicates to the youth and young adult audience of today, RAE has developed some infectious grooves that are sure to catch the ears of young music buyers everywhere. Subtle lyrics united with in-your-face attitude seem to be the device of choice for getting the message of the Cross out. With songs like “Special One” which speak about the “I wanna be the star” epidemic that seems to be sweeping our nation lately, RAE hits on hot topics affecting today’s younger crowd. The band couldn’t sound any tighter and you gotta love those extra background growls by Nick the outrageous guitar player! Kelly’s vocals are unmatched and easily categorized with rock diva’s like Alanis Morisette and Chrissie Hynde – a Joan Jett of the new millennium. RAE is the total package and holds their own with excellent production, songwriting, and an energetic performance that demands a crowd to stand up and take notice. Be on the lookout for this hot indie band that is destined to become a well-known entity in the days ahead.
